BACK TO CREW
San Diego born producer sp da iLL kid grew up with a dad that loved music and was a heavy record collector. He collected mostly rare progressive rock records and cd’s which was always playing in the house. I always loved music growing up, when I was younger I liked Rap/Hip-Hop and Rock such as Common, Twista, Do Or Die, Orgy, KoRn. I got more into Hip-Hop after high school in 2006 when I was 18. I started collecting every Hip-Hop CD I liked which was mostly East Coast boom bap which caught my ears the most. Some of them include Native Nuttz, Nick Wiz, Redman, Ill Biskits, Keith Murray, Erick Sermon, Godfather Don, Black Moon, Smif ‘n Wessun. I was really into the music and listened to it so much I started feeling like I wanted to make the music too and my first record I got was 2 years later in 2008. It was Artifacts – Dynamite Soul 12″ single. I’ve been collecting records since 2008 and might be at about 2,500 records. I have a lot of the classic 90s Hip-Hop records and a lot of Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B and Progressive Rock.
